The 'Victory' public house, West Mersea This popular pub's slogan is proudly displayed in the centre of the building: "A great place to sink a few".
Feldy View. Feldy View is the beginnings of a woodland cemetery on Mersea Island. It has been in operation since about 2000. The idea is to turn a rather ordinary field to the west of Mersea Cemetery into woodland. The area has very pleasant views across the Strood Channel towards Feldy Marshes, no stone or artificial monuments are allowed except wooden grave markers. The only problem is that once all the trees grow up the view across the open marsh that makes the place special will be rather obscured… ho humm!
